Note: There is a difference between X-Fi Xtreme Gamer Cards for the following models:
- For SB046X and SB055X series: Supports Microphone-in,
Line-in, Digital In and Digital Out connections to which the SPDIF setup
applies.
- For SB073X series : Supports Microphone-in, Line-in
and Optical out connections. On a SB073X series card, this jack does not
have the Digital-in function to support the Digital I/O Module. It does
however connects to external digital audio devices that accept stereo
PCM or compressed Dolby Digital/DTS Bitstream from the Optical output.
This will require using a "Toslink to Mini Toslink"
cable for connection only.
Please follow the instructions below on configuring your FlexiJack.
Select the Digital I/O option when connecting digital audio devices
to the Digital I/O Module (available with selected models or as an
upgrade option).
Select the option if you want to connect external digital audio devices
that accept stereo PCM or compressed Dolby Digital/DTS Bitstream from
the S/PDIF output.
Select the Mic-in/Line-in option when connecting analog devices
like cassette players and other line-level sources, or when connecting
a microphone.
If you use microphone for VOIP applications like Skype, MSN Messenger,
Yahoo, it is recommended that you enable Game Mode or Audio
Creation mode.
Note: X-Fi Titanium Series cards only offer Microphone and Line In as options for the FlexiJack. These cards have a separate SPDIF I/O jack for optical connection.
- Close all back applications, especially, Sound Recorder or other
multimedia applications.
- Select Control Panel, and then Hardware
and Sound.
- Click on the Playback tab.
If you have a Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio,
select SPDIF Out, and then click Set Default to enable SPDIF
Out.
If you have a Sound Blaster X-Fi card (except X-Fi Xtreme Audio),
select the speaker (or audio card), for example, Creative SB
X-FI.
Click Properties, select Custom,
and then select Enable Digital I/O if you have
connected a digital device to the FlexiJack.
If you have connected a microphone or line in device to the FlexiJack,
uncheck the box next to Enable Digital I/O.
To change the FlexiJack setting in Game Mode and in Audio Creation
Mode:
- Click the Settings button.
- In the Digital I/O section under FlexiJack Mode, you can select
between using the jack as a Mic In/Line In or as a Digital I/O.
To change the FlexiJack setting in Entertainment Mode:
- Click the Digital I/O button.
- Under FlexiJack Mode, click the setting that you want - Mic
In/ Line In or Digital I/O.
You can also use Windows Volume Control to configure the FlexiJack.
- Click Start, Settings, Control Panel and Sounds
and Audio Devices.
- Select the Volume tab and click the Advanced... button.
- In the Play Control window, locate the Advanced button
in the bottom right corner. If the button is not visible, click Options
and Advanced Controls. Then click the Advanced button.
- Select 1 Enable Digital IO.
- Checking 1 Enable Digital IO sets the FlexiJack for
Digital I/O.
- Un-checking 1 Enable Digital IO sets the FlexiJack
for Line In/Mic In.
